Yay for the iPhone. It might even get me to post more often or something...
Okay, probably not.

A post for June

I'm scattering to Ponil tomorrow (yup, another year, another canyon), but here's my monthly post before I go to the boonies.
Updates and dumb camper stories as time permits.

Spring Break Plans?
12:55am 25/02/2009
So I've got a week off starting Thursday night and no clue what to do with it. However, some of you in the audience, both on facebook and LJ, might just have an idea or Three. Keep in mind that my parents (and possibly and old friend of mine) will be up the next week, so I needn't get in all my Work Avoiding in next week.
So, without further ado, The Poll:

Poll #1355176 Phun phor Phill

So, what should I do next week?

Stay in DC; hit up every museum in the city
Stay in DC; actually catch up on work
Stay in DC; read Quine, Fuentes, Zwingli, other things I've been meaning to get to already
Go to NYC for . . . whatever's there
Something else entirely

And what, pray tell, is that something else entirely?

So, uh, what exactly is in NYC that I could do on a student budget?

Thoughts Thinking Thoughts

1. Sure, it's been a week, but, having finally seen They Might Be Giants in the flesh, I'm of the opinion that the newer TMBG is far better than the old one–they actually sound like a legit rock act now, rather than two guys with an accordion and a drum machine. Not as "quirky" as they once were, but it's been exchanged for being legitimately good.
2. Much as the Perseus Project databases are hyperuseful for philogical studies (seriously, click on a word and it'll give you the definition from Liddel & Scott, how many times it appears in Plato, how much it appears in Greek as a whole, how much lime it likes in its gin & tonic, etc.), it is a pain to copy and paste text from Perseus to Word, since "that most miserable of all word processors," as Msgr. Sokolowski puts it, likes to keep hyperlinks as hyperlinks. It's a pain in the butt to go through every single link, tell Word that, in fact, it's not misspelled, then go through the process of turning the thing off so I don't get underlined grey text when I turn the thing in. Grrrr. It's Attic Greek, not misspelled!
3. Come 12 December at noon, when my last final is over, I'm pretty much gonna collapse. Then worry about Christmas shopping. I should probably worry about that sooner, but I'm chained to my computer by Evil Satanic Papers of Death.
4. Being "perfect" is really, really strange. Studying Thomas Aquinas on God's ideas brings this out–God is weird. Really weird. There's a lot of stuff they didn't teach you in Sunday School, primarily because it's so very, very strange.
5. I think I would be better off yelling "God Is Dead" at the top of my lungs in the middle of the Pryz then admitting to being a sacramental memorialist (that is, it's still just wheat and Welches, no matter how many times you wave your hands over it) who doesn't particularly like Aristotle in Aquinas Hall.
6. Is it a bad thing when my computer underlines half of my correctly-spelled words in red because it doesn't recognize them? When does my native language stop being English and change to Philosopher?

Thank You, Rum and Monkey.
11:59pm 23/11/2008
I got out of bed really late because my alarm clock has broken and I cannot afford a new one at the moment.
I feel sad, because Sarah and Britney are complete bitches. They told everyone I have an STD, just because I slept with both of their boyfriends on Saturday night.

I'm so hardcore. Me and Buzz went to the mall today, and I stole a whole heap of stuff. I got a Good Charlotte CD, a couple of DVDs and some new boots. Buzz got caught, but he fought his way out, and then we stole some lady's car and smashed it into a phone booth.

Last night I had to finish my term paper on the history of pre-communist Russian society. I focussed on the needs of women. I think it's ok, but if I don't pass this I'll lose my scholarship.

I am making this journal Friends Only because of the perverts and stalkers who only want to see my photos.

Today, I got a digital camera! Yes! Here's ten thousand photographs of my cat.

I want to say thanks to my dad for giving me my own computer and digital camera. Here's a photo of my room. The weather in Ontario is cold. I have nothing more to say.

I went to the doctor yesterday, and he said I have a terrible skin disease which prevents me from coming into contact with other human beings. And bipolar disorder.

That's enough for now. But I'll leave you with this thought - sharing your life with strangers on the internet is the cheapest form of therapy available. Leave a comment and tell me I'm beautiful.

Poll #1083402 Do you read the NRB?

Do you still read the NRB?

Should I really bother updating?

Is my girlfriend an evil minx?

Of course
"Noooooo! Take it away! I'm not an evil minx! I'm a good minx!"
"Why am I an evil minx!"

And Nixon wasn't a crook, either.

A question...
08:03pm 10/10/2005
I've been wondering this for a while. While I'm pretty sure some people read this, I've always wanted to know who, and if I ever had anyone I didn't know visit the NRB. So, I'm going to put on a little experiment.
If you read this, please post something on the comments page. It doesn't matter if I've known you for (as far as I know) longer than my mother or if you happen to be some random person who stumbled across this entry on someone else's friends page–I just want to know who sees this thing.
If all else fails, just type your name or a period for a comment.

1. Read above
2. Click "leave a comment"
3. Type either a comment, your name, or a random punctuation mark
4. Post comment
5. Do something else.)
